Hire Remote IT Support Staff for Your Help Desk

Remote IT support staff keep your people working: resetting access, setting up new starters, managing devices and answering the tickets that otherwise land on your most expensive engineer. We recruit help desk and IT administrators in Pakistan, test their troubleshooting and introduce a shortlist for you to interview.

Who Handles IT When Nobody Owns It?

In many growing companies, IT support is an accidental job. A developer resets passwords between sprints, an office manager orders laptops and a founder sets up accounts for every new hire. It works until the team grows, and then tickets sit unanswered, offboarding gets missed and access sprawls across dozens of tools.

Hiring remote IT support staff gives that work a clear owner. A dedicated help desk analyst or IT administrator handles requests through a proper queue, documents fixes and keeps user access tidy, freeing your technical team to focus on their real jobs.

Common warning signs

  • Engineers spend time on password resets
  • New starters wait for laptops and accounts
  • Leavers keep access to company tools
  • No record of who has which licence
  • Customer technical tickets go stale

What Remote IT Support Staff Do

Remote IT support covers everything that can be done through admin consoles, remote access and clear communication.

  • Help desk and ticket handling

Logging, prioritising and resolving user requests through your ticketing system, and escalating what needs a specialist.

  • Onboarding and offboarding

Creating accounts, assigning licences and groups, preparing devices and removing access promptly when people leave.

  • Device management

Enrolling and configuring laptops and phones through tools such as Intune or Jamf, pushing updates and tracking assets.

  • Security hygiene

Enforcing multi-factor authentication, reviewing permissions, supporting phishing reports and following your security policies.

  • SaaS administration

Managing Google Workspace or Microsoft admin centres, Slack, Zoom and the long tail of business apps your team relies on.

  • Documentation and knowledge base

Writing how-to guides and internal runbooks so common issues get solved faster, or by users themselves.

Technical Skills We Check, and How

IT support is about methodical troubleshooting and calm communication, so we test both. Candidates talk us through real incidents they have handled: what the user reported, what they checked, how they found the cause and how they kept the user updated.

We then use scenario-based questions tied to your environment, for example a user locked out after a device change, or a shared drive permission that suddenly stops working. We look for structured thinking, sensible escalation and clear, polite written replies that a non-technical user would understand.

If your support needs extend into code changes or internal tooling, a remote software developer may be a better fit for part of the work.

Tools and knowledge we screen for

  • Google Workspace and Microsoft admin consoles
  • Microsoft Entra ID or Okta identity management
  • Intune, Jamf or similar device management
  • Jira Service Management, Zendesk or Freshservice
  • Remote desktop and support tools
  • Networking, DNS and email basics
  • Windows and macOS troubleshooting

Hiring Remote IT Support: Our Process

  1. Step 1: Map your environment

We learn your operating systems, identity provider, ticketing tool, team size and the hours users need cover, plus anything that must stay with your internal team.

  2. Step 2: Source and pre-screen

We search for IT support professionals in Pakistan with experience in comparable environments and check certifications and past roles where relevant.

  3. Step 3: Scenario assessment

Candidates work through realistic support scenarios and a written ticket reply, showing how they diagnose problems and communicate with users.

  4. Step 4: Your interviews

You meet the shortlist and can walk through your own scenarios. We coordinate scheduling and share your feedback.

  5. Step 5: Hire and placement

You choose your hire and agree terms with them directly. The one-time placement fee applies as defined in your recruitment agreement.

Our full process is explained on the how it works page.

Fees and Agreements

IT support hires follow the same simple model as every GV Staffing role: a one-time placement fee per successful hire, rather than a managed service contract billed every month. The fee depends on the role and seniority.

Your recruitment agreement sets out the fee, when it becomes payable, payment terms and any replacement policy before we begin. Your IT hire works for your business, and you agree their pay and terms with them directly.

Why Hire IT Support Staff From Pakistan

Pakistan has a large pool of IT graduates and support professionals, including people with experience in outsourced help desks serving international companies. Many are used to ticket-driven work, written English communication and following documented procedures.

Time zones can be useful for IT. A support analyst working during your early hours can handle overnight tickets and prepare devices before your team logs on, or you can agree a schedule that overlaps your business day. Working hours are agreed per role.

One limit is worth stating plainly: remote staff can’t fix hardware on site. Plan for physical repairs locally or through a vendor, and let your remote hire coordinate them. Explore related roles on our remote staffing services page, or consider remote data entry staff for high-volume admin work.

FAQ

Remote IT Support FAQs

See all remote staffing FAQs

What IT tasks can be handled fully remotely?

Most of them. Account management, licensing, device configuration through management tools, software installs, permissions, ticket handling and documentation can all be done remotely. Physical repairs and cabling still need someone on site, which your remote hire can coordinate with a local vendor.

Is it safe to give a remote hire admin access?

It can be, with sensible controls. Use individual admin accounts, multi-factor authentication, least-privilege roles and audit logs, and review access regularly. Your hire works under your policies. Confirm any regulatory requirements for your industry with a qualified adviser.

Can remote IT support cover our customers, not just staff?

Yes. Some clients hire technical support specialists to answer product questions, reproduce bugs and escalate issues to engineering. Tell us whether the role is internal, customer-facing or both, and we’ll screen for the right communication style.

Do candidates need certifications?

Not always. Certifications from Microsoft, Google, CompTIA or similar can be useful signals, and we can make them a requirement. For many help desk roles, proven troubleshooting experience and clear communication matter more, and we test both directly.

Can IT support staff work overnight for our time zone?

Working hours are agreed for each role. Because Pakistan is ahead of the UK and US, a standard local schedule often covers your early morning, and some candidates are open to later shifts. We confirm availability before you interview anyone.

What ticketing system will they use?

Yours. Your hire works in your ticketing tool and follows your categories, priorities and escalation paths. We screen for experience with the system you use, or with a comparable one, so the learning curve stays short.

Give Your IT Requests a Proper Owner

Talk to us about your tools, users and support hours. We’ll explain how we’d screen for the role and how the one-time placement fee works.
